Who we are

Survivals is operated by SaaSquatch Ltd, a web development agency based in London. We built this site to help people find honest camping, gear, and preparedness advice — not to harvest your data.

What we collect

When you use Survivals, we may collect:

  • Email address — if you subscribe to updates or use interactive features
  • Marketing consent preference — whether you opted in to receive updates
  • Review content and photos — if you submit a review of a camping spot, including any photos you upload
  • Kit builder preferences — your selections when using the kit builder tool (stored locally in your browser)

Why we collect it

We use your data to provide the services you have requested, such as email updates or kit builder results. That is it. No cold calls, no selling your details.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in Supabase, an EU-hosted PostgreSQL database. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use Resend to deliver emails — they process your email address solely for delivery and do not use it for any other purpose.

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties.

Cookies

We do not use tracking cookies. When analytics are enabled, we use Umami, a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics platform that does not track individuals or require consent banners.

Affiliate links

Some links on Survivals are affiliate links to our retail partners: Amazon UK, Heinnie Haynes, Decathlon, Go Outdoors, Alpkit, Cotswold Outdoor, and Pitchup. These links track clicks via URL parameters or cookies managed by those platforms. We do not share your personal data with any affiliate partner.

Affiliate partner cookies are set by the retailer when you click an outbound link, not by Survivals directly. Please refer to each retailer’s own privacy policy for details on how they handle that data.

Review photos

If you upload photos as part of a spot review, those images are stored securely in Supabase Storage. Photos may be displayed publicly on the relevant spot page. You can request removal of your photos at any time by emailing us.

Your rights under GDPR

As a UK or EU resident, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate data
  • Delete — ask us to permanently remove your data
  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from marketing at any time via the link in every email

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@survivals.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.

Data retention

Personal data is retained for 2 years from the date of collection, then automatically deleted. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us — we will remove your data within 30 days of your request.

Children

Survivals is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 years of age.

Contact
